TD – Total Domination

d 1I purchased my 3DS nearly purely for this game (And pokemon since I didn’t have a DS, and Local Evil: Revelations – but this was a huge factor!). I bought the Mark of Proficiency version, which is quite cool for me considering that I’m an enthusiast, I feel overall it had not been worth it. The case that’s included is virtually worthless (You can’t make use of the Circle Pad Pro with the bottom half on), and it scratches REALLY easily! I believed it was white from accounts, however in reality it’s transparent, so the writing can be tough to keep reading particular color 3DSs. Also, the AR cards that give you “Exclusive” Dream Eaters can just be looked for on google, and your 3DS will pick them up just like they would a real card – so besides actually having them, those too wear. The Art cards are VERY cool, and make an exceptional display piece, together with the actual Box – which I have basing on my Table that shows off all my LE/SE boxes for games.

d 2Now to get to the game itself – I provide it a 5/5 for both fun and overall due to the fact that I directly think it is – but there are some negative points in my viewpoint – I’ll get to those later on.

d 3The game happens after Kingdom Hearts II, with Riku and Sora taking the Mark of Mastery exam – without revealing a bit too much, you regulate both characters through-out the game – and while you can change to the other at will, you’re time along with every appearance is somewhat restricted. There is a “Drop Gauge” that counts down from the moment you begin playing as a character, and when it clears out, your changed to the other character. An intriguing mechanic – however in case you’re in the middle of a Boss fight and you’re Drop gauge runs out, you need to start from scratch when you’re “Dropped” back into that character. Now, as the game goes on, you can extend the drop gauge – While playing as a character, you earn “DP” or “Dream Points” that can be used to assist the next character by upgrading their drop gauge, attack/magic/defense power, and even getting items – any DP not spent is exchanged munny. There are other DP bonuses, however I don’t wish to expose them, you’ll need to wait and see! Another somewhat problematic facet I feel is that each world is just too short !!! I imply, you go through every one twice (Once as Riku, when as Sora), but the majority of the time it’s the same environments over and over (Some worlds have you discover a different area as Sora and riku – but they’re EXTREMELY restricted – the majority of the time it’s the same things over and over). Also, the game’s trouble is very low – I put it on Proud mode (The hardest mode before you triumph and unlock Crucial Mode – or is it the other way around? lol), and am flying with the game with ease! I think I had difficulty with a couple of employers. Speaking of bosses – the fights are EXTREMELLY enjoyable !!! They’re varied in the technique, with some being basic hack and slash, and others being mini-game type occasions.

d 4Another brand-new function to the game is dive mode. Prior to you enter a world for the very first time, you must “Dive” towards it as each character. This’s a really enjoyable experience and assists separate the battle (Although I enjoy the combat, lol). There are various kinds of dives as well – such as attempting to rack up a certain ammount of “Dive Points”, eliminating a certain amount of opponents, or defeating an employer opponent. Likewise, you’re ranked in how quick and the number of points you get, and each world gives you a bonus offer for getting an A-rank (Sadly only one per world – so if you get an A as Sora, acquiring an A as riku will not get you an additional reward). It’s a very enjoyable function that contributes to the enjoyable of the game, although I do miss out on the gummi ship, and making off around on my keyblade-turned-vehicle from birth by sleep.

As a final point – I would generally say that playing through all the prior games (In chronological order = Birth By Rest [PSP], Kingdom Hearts [PS2], Chain of memories [GBA or re: Chain of memories on PS2], 358/2 Days [DS], Kingdom Hearts II [PS2], and Re: Coded [DS – Coded was a Japan only episodic cell=phone game] and as a fanatic, I plan on completely playing 358/2 days and re: coded prior to I beat the final world (Nearly approximately the last boss !!! Got Re: Coded and 358/2 Days on the way, the rest I have actually currently beaten) however the game features a Chronicles section when you reach particular points in the game that need you to have anticipation of a video game in the series, and provides a respectable summary of each game – making this a game that you don’t “Have” to play all the previous ones in the series to comprehend. As a HUGE FAN of the series however, I will say that each game is worth playing (I’ve played 358/2 days on a simulator, however never ever tried re: coded yet so I can’t guarantee that) for the fish story, enjoyable mini games, and WONDERFUL fight systems that vary from game to game! Also the multiplayer (A feature thats kind of missing in this game, unless you count streetpass as multiplayer:() aspects in Birth By Rest and 358/2 days are REALLY cool and one-of-a-kind experiences !!!

d 5Overall – KH 3D: DDD is an amazing game with an enormous story, unbelievable graphics, VERY fun gameplay, and sufficient variety to not be too repetitive. Also the “Chronicles” Feature that permits you to catch up on any video games you may have missed is an outstanding way to catch up on the tales you’ve missed so far. The only bitter pills in my viewpoint is the lack of a full-fledged multiplayer, which the last 2 portable installments had, and how short each world is – likewise the game on its own is rather short in my opinion – when you’re not a completionist I believe the game can be completed in, say, 15-20 hours. It’s a great game, and it’s finally a brand-new installation in the set to follow the tale of Sora/Riku/Mickey / Donald/Goofy/Kairi after Kingdom Hearts II to get us hyped up for Kingdom Hearts III. If you’re a fan of the series – GET the game. In case You’re not, rent it and I promise you’ll discover a need to buy it, and every previous installment in the series if you resemble me, lol. I wish this review assists !!! Have a good time men!
